Chapter 2
I was scared to death. Then I heard something. "Hey!" I didn't turn around but I knew it was a boy's voice. "Zack, is that you?" Malai asked, too scared to take her eyes of the Gerudo. "Yeah it's me. Who else would ride in on a white horse to save you?" The sorceress laughed and walked toward us. "You'd better leave us alone!" I said. "And why is that?" She asked, sneering at me. "Because you're the same age as us. There are 3 of us and 1 of you."
"I have my magic." "So do I!" I bluffed. Her eyes seemed to glow for a minute, and then she looked me over. "So you do, child. So you do." Then she disappeared. "What did she mean by that?" Malai asked. I shrugged. "Oh, Aria, this is my twin brother Zack. Zack, this is Aria." "Nice to meet you." I said. He smiled at me. He had a kind of nice smile. He also had bright green eyes and black hair. I couldn't help but notice. "Come on," I said, "Let's go back to the village."
We walked all the way back to the village and it was just in time for dinner. I ran to my house and ate with my family. "So where were you all day?" Mom asked. "I was playing with my new friend Malai." I replied. "You have a new friend? That's great!" Andrea said. She had been kind of worried about me since I didn't seem to make friends very well. I just seemed to be...different from the other children. It made me sad, and whenever it happened I'd always go to the woods at the edge of the village.
"Did you do anything else?" Dad asked. "Well, we were frightened by a Gerudo sorceress." "What?!" Dad exclaimed. He'd always hated Gerudos since he heard the story about the Hero of Time. "Malai's twin brother Zack helped us scare her off. We outnumbered her and she believed my bluff about having powers." Dad nodded. "I usually say bluffing is a bad idea, but in this case apparently it worked." I looked up from my dinner. "Know what she said after I lied?" They shook their heads. "She said 'so you do, child, so you do.' Then she disappeared." My mom gave dad a strange look. "Are you three finished eating? Okay, now go and play." They went in to their room, and pulled the door almost all the way shut. There was still a crack big enough to look through. I followed them and pressed my ear gently against the door.
"Is it true? Is the prophecy coming true so soon? And why her?" Mom asked. "Maybe because she was chosen. I don't know how, but Gerudo can tell lies from anything else, especially if that Gerudo is a sorceress. We'll have to keep an eye on her." I walked out of the house to see the sun just going over the horizon. I looked around for Malai or Zack, and, not finding either of them, walked to the woods.
It was damp, after the rain we had just had, like what I heard in school about. What was it...oh yes, a rainforest! It was like that, with the tall trees and beautiful flowers. It was getting dark when I came from my secret place in the middle of the forest. I went to the star-watching rock and sat there. I then layed down and put my hands behind my head, awed at the number of stars that dotted the velvet-black sky. I felt something and sat up.
"Pretty huh?" It was Malai. "Oh, hi. Yeah, it's strange. You think you're important, but then you look at the stars and realize that you're just like 1 star up there. Out of millions of others." "But we're a very rare star. This is probably the last village of Sheikahs anywhere." "You're right." I was quiet until I got tired and went in to bed.
The next morning I woke up to the sound of rain on the roof. "More rain? The goddesses are going to flood the village if they keep this up." Andrea woke up in the bed beside me. "Good morning." I said. "What's good about it? It's raining." She replied, trying to go back to sleep. We were friends, kind of, but who could resist having the chance to bother your older sister? Certainly not me.
"But don't you like rain Andrea?" I asked, grinning. "Not today." I knocked quietly on the wall and walked out of the room. I came in a few seconds later. "Andrea, someone's here to see you. Said he's a friend." That got her up. She got dressed and walked to the door, pulling her hair back. She saw no one was there and scowled at me. "You got me up for nothing!" I grinned. "Well, not for nothing really." I said. "What for then?" I grinned again. "It's your turn to make breakfast!" She groaned and stomped off to our room. Little did either of us know what was waiting there...
