There are many creatures to be seen throughout the lands of Hyrule, in its caverns, its dungeons, its woods and even on the plains. Over time, some creatures have simply disappeared, while others have simultaneously appeared as if from nowhere. Over the next two pages, there are details of only some of the creatures you are likely to have encountered or may one day encounter in the magical kingdom of Hyrule. Happy hunting.

Image Loading... Ache Bat
This annoying little creature hides and then swoops down on you when you least expect it. Some bats can transform into demons - they are usually red in colour, so try to kill them before they land. They are also a useful diguise for evil wizards. The best way to defeat an Ache bat is to use an upward thrust with your sword.
Image Loading... Armos
Armos are a kind of stone statue that comes alive when you approach. They tend to be found in groups, often hiding among statues that aren't alive. You usually know when they have been woken up, for they growl and glow a bit. Armos attack by trying to stomp on you with their heavy bases. They are very strong and will relentlessly persue you until you destroy them. Usually only a bomb will suffice unless they are the weaker kind, encountered in Zelda III. Also said to exist is the Armos Knight, an Armos that can only be destroyed by throwing a bomb into its gaping maw.
Image Loading... Bago Bago
These horrible creatures lurk in the water, often on beaches, and under bridges. You also can find them living in lava. They are made from bones, and they spit out fireballs. Your best bet with these skeletons is to use your shield for defence, and run!
Image Loading... Beamos
The Beamos is a rotating statue monster, with one eye. If the Beamos catches sight of any movement in its line of vision, a powerful beam will shoot from its eye to harm any who venture near. Like the Armos, the only way to destroy a Beamos is to use a bomb. They are often found in caverns and especially at dungeon entrances, to keep out any wanderers.
Image Loading... Big Octo
The Big Octo is a giant Octopus that resides at the centre of strange whirlpools usually fond far out to sea. These creatures have a great affinity for fabulous treasures, and anyone daring enough to take on these giants of the ocean is sure to be greatly rewarded. However, defeating a Big Octo is no mean feat! The only way to defeat these creatures is by destroying all of their eyes before they sink back below the ocean.
Image Loading... Biri & Bari
The Biri is very similar to the Bari, as it can only be located inside the belly of the great Jabu Jabu, and it can only be defeated with a boomerang or arrow. It is said that electricty flows through the veins of the Biri, and the Biri is a lot more boisterous than the Bari, venturing near to all that might enter its domain. The Bari is a strange creature created by the curse that Ganondorf placed upon the great Jabu Jabu. They can only be killed with the boomerang, as they seem to contain a huge amount of electricty in their jelly-like forms which will be transmitted to any who try to touch them.
Image Loading... Bit & Bot
These jelly-like creatures hunt in packs and wobble about quite quickly. Although they are easy to defeat, remain wary of these beasts, especially the blue bots, which can jump. A simple downward thrust with a sword is the best way to deal with them. They have relations called Zol and Gel, that usually inhabit dungeons. Bits and Bots, when trained, can make good pets.
Image Loading... Bokoblin
Bokoblin's are the faster, smarter cousins to the moblins. They are more agile and alert than the moblin, and are fairly skilled in close quarter combat. Their favoured weapons are the sword and shield, and these creatures even have the capacity to operate simply machinery.
Image Loading... Boon
These giant flies are such a headache! Not only do they buzz loudly, but they also drop firery missiles when attacking! Use your shield to fend of their missile attacks, then when they zoom down low, use an upthrust to finish them off.
Image Loading... Bubble
There are two main types of Bubble's, one being the less powerful Blue Bubble, the other being the more hardworthy Green Bubble. Both are flying(or bouncing) skulls, which are enveloped in a coloured flame(blue or green). If they touch you, you will be burnt, but while the flame of the Blue Bubble can easily be put up simply by deflecting it away with your shield, the Green Bubble's flame will never die until it is defeated completely.
Image Loading... ChuChu
ChuChu's are odd creatures, seemingly composed of a jelly like goo which has the ability to stretch, jump, flatten and generally make a nuisance of itself. There are many different colours of Chuchu, all of which have different strengths and weaknesses. Red ChuChu is arguably the weakest of the species as it seems to have little or no resistance to convential weapon attacks. Yellow and Blue ChuChu's both have the ability to generate an electrical field around themselves and both must first be stunned from afar before it can be destroyed. Blue ChuChu, however, is more rare than the yellow variaty. Green ChuChu has the ability to melt into the ground to avoid attacks and again must be stunned from afar before it can be defeated via normal sword strikes. Finally, Dark ChuChu, which likes to reside in the deepest and shadowy corners of the darkest dungeons can only be defeated if it comes into contact with sunlight. Sunlight has the effect of turning Dark ChuChu to stone, at which point the only way it can be destroyed is for it to be smashed with a hammer or bomb.
Image Loading... Daria
These alligator-like creatures are heavily armoured and very strong. They like to guard bridges, but are most often found in the swamp. They attack using huge axes, which can penetrate even the strongest shield or armour. Stay out of the way of his axe and stab him low down to defeat this monstrosity.
Image Loading... Darknut
Darknuts are huge armoured evil knights who are extremely strong and powerful. They sometimes attack with bows and arrows. A darknut arrow is always magical but you must never use them, for they are evil. Try to attack from behind, for they will nearly always fend off frontal attacks with their large shields. The strongest of all Darknuts is called a Mighty Darknut, who are protected by a magical cape that can only be destroyed by fire.
Image Loading... Deelers
These large, armoured spiders hang up in the trees, ready to descend on anyone who passes unknowling beneath them. The blue variety prefer to attack by dropping to the ground, and they have an extremely high jump. Deelers are easy to defeat, but their quickness tends to make them a hard target, even for the most experienced warrior.
Image Loading... Deku Baba
The Deku Baba is a deceptive looking enemy, its form is that of a withered plant that will normally sprout from the ground suddenly, but if you should touch it, it will harm you. Some Deku Baba's spin upright to harm you, whilst others will lunge at you. Normally, when killed they leave behind deku seeds or sticks.
Image Loading... Deku Scrub
The Deku scrub is most commonly found in the Lost woods, but it can also be found in many other places and caverns underground. The Deku scrub will attack any trespassers by spitting deku seeds at them, which explode on impact and can be quite painful if you don't not defend against them with a shield. If you get too close, they will hide in the grass to evade harm, so you are best trying to deflect their own deku nuts back at them to defeat them. An interesting variation of Deku Scrub is the Businnes Scrub. They look slightly different, and once defeated, they will attempt to sell you various items, often at ridiculously high prices!
Image Loading... Dodongo
These lizard like creatures inhabit the caverns of Death Mountain, of which there are three distinct types. There is the baby Dodongo, a lesser form of the normal Dodongo, Dodongo and King Dodongo, which is a huge form of a normal Dodongo covered in very tough armour. The normal Dodongo has tough armour, and watch out for its spin tail attack and its fiery breath. After the Dodongo has been killed, it will expire by exploding, so don't stand too close.! The Dodongo Baby is the smaller form of the Dodongo. They normally burrow up from the ground whenever a hero ventures near, leap up and attack, then escape by burrowing back under the earth. While less dangerous than the fire breathing Dodongo, they are a lot faster and harder to hit. Like the Dodongo, Dodongo Babies also explode once defeated.

This creature is made entirely from sand, and will jump out from beneath the sand unexpectedly. Watch out, because he moves extremely fast, but a few well-placed sword blows will soon send him running in the opposite direction!
Image Loading... Ghini
Ghinis are very strong ghosts. They usually come out at night, but hide inside gravestones during the day. If you disturb a sleeping Ghini, it will attack. Avoid graveyards at all costs for these undead creatures are difficult to beat.
Image Loading... Gibdo
Gibdos are menaces, plain and simple. These evil creatures can withstand repeated blows from any weapon, and will attempt to kill you given the chance. Some Gibdos even have the power to disguise themselves are humans. However, the quickest and most simple way to defeat a gibdo is... set the flaming thing on fire!! As if it wasn't obvious!

Image Loading... Hinox
This Cyclops style monster is very strong and can throw bombs. They don't neccesarily give chase unless provoked, but if you want to attack, aim for his eye, or throw his bombs back at him.
