Brotherhood of the Underworld

Image Loading...
There are many creatures to be seen throughout the lands of Hyrule, in its caverns, its dungeons, its woods and even on the plains. Over time, some creatures have simply disappeared, while others have simultaneously appeared as if from nowhere. Over the next two pages, there are details of only some of the creatures you are likely to have encountered or may one day encounter in the magical kingdom of Hyrule. Happy hunting.

Image Loading... Iron Knuckle
A solider made from iron, created by a King many centuries ago to guard the palaces of Hyrule, they now work for the evil Underworld ruler, Ganon. They are immensely tough due to their protective armour and are especially skilled using a sword and shield. They come in many forms - red Iron Knuckles are especially tough, while blue Iron Knuckles own magical weapons and can jump. A regular orange Iron Knuckle has no special skills, but is still tough nontheless.
Image Loading... Kargoroc
A giant and pesky bird that likes to patrol high up spires, this avian fiend will swoop down on any unsuspecting that dares tread in the vicinity of its nest. Their feathers are prized among the Rito tribe due to their rarity and beauty, and it is said that the Kargoroc can be trained to transport the troops of Ganon from battle to battle.
Image Loading... Keese
These viscious bat like creatures will swoop into adventurers, trying to knock them from the ledge or bridge they stand upon. Beware the Fire Keese also, for these are even more dangerous than normal Keese. They swoop down onto their victims and set them and anything wooden they hold alight!
Image Loading... Lanmolas
These are sometimes refered to as Geldarms. They are huge, towering centipedes that rise out of the sand and block your path. It is best to attack them on the head.
Image Loading... Lizalfos
The Lizalfos are strong and agile lizard warriors, trained in a very similar way to the Stalfos. Probably one of the more intelligent creatures you are likely to encounted, they like to travel in pairs in an attempt to wear down those who they attack by taking turns to fight. They are equipped with swords and shields, and usually as tall as a grown man.
Image Loading... Like Like
A gelantaneous creature of large proportions. It sucks in your posessions, and sometimes even people, so keep away when attacking. It is best to use projectiles or magic when fighting this creature so it can't steal your sword or other equipment. A quick blow from the hookshot will also render the Like Like immobile for a few seconds, so only then would it be safe to approach such a thing. If a Like Like does steal something of yours, you will only be able to get back what was stolen by defeating the creature.
Image Loading... Magtail
This well armoured millipede only has one weak spot in its anatomy, its unprotected eye. It prefers to inhabit hot and dry areas, and consequently it is weak against any kind of ice or water attacks. When a magtail senses it is in danger after attack, it will roll up into a tiny, tough ball, which can only be destroyed with a hammer blow or a bomb.
Image Loading... Megmat
These have got to be one of the most annoying creatures in Hyrule! They jump around very, very quickly, making it extremely hard to get a hit on them. They tend to cluster in large groups in forest clearings, so be wary whenever you enter an open space in the forest.
Image Loading... Miniblin
Easily distracted and not particularly dangerous, these small demons prefer to attack in hordes, due to their small size.
Image Loading... Moa
There are two kinds of these ghost. First is the common orange sort, which is visable. It flies very fast and sometime drops fire. The second, more dangerous type is the blue moa, which are impossible to see, unless you are carrying a cross. Moas suck life energy, so always attack them before they attack you.
Image Loading... Moblin
These dog-faced ogres like to hunt in large packs, usually with a chief Moblin in charge of them. They attack with spears, but luckily tend to be slow and rather unintelligent. Beware, for moblins love to hide behind trees and can very quiet when neccesary, ready to spring an attack out on the unwary traveller. Fighting a pack of moblins is something not recommended for a loner. Getting in close with a sword is a good strategy, as is firing with a bow from a distance. Keep your wits about you though - moblins have a frequent tendancy to sneak up on you from behind! More recently, a new kind of Moblin has appeared. They are taller than any normal man and are extremely strong with very tough armour. Only by hitting them in the head with a hookshot or arrow may you defeat them, and despite their size, they are a lot faster than one might expect.
Image Loading... Moby
This is an eagle-like bird that attacks by diving down. It is fast, and often a hard to defeat, but it has very little life-power. Be wary, for they are quick to attack and have sharp beaks and claws.
Image Loading... Moldorm
This is a huge worm-like creature who resides deep in the underworld. His weak point is his tail, but be careful when attacking Moldorms, for the more you hit him, the angrier he gets.
Image Loading... Molgera Larva
These are the small offspring of Molgera, which bury themselves in the sand in order to prevent any would be heroes from targetting their mother. They can only be pulled from the sand with a hookshot, and dispatched with a blow to the head.
Image Loading... Morth
Morths' are tiny little creatures with spike riddled bodies which they like to attach to any potential adventurers. Although they generally can't harm anything, they can certainly slow down progress and can be troublesome to shake off at times.
Image Loading... Mothula
A giant moth with a particularly powerful swooping lunge, the Mothula will also dispatch large amounts of Morths when it is not in the air.
Image Loading... Octorok
Octoroks are very similar to octopuses, except that they live on land. These disgusting little beasts like to spit rocks and bombs out from their mouths. Beware of flying Octoroks - these are pregnant octoroks and will explode if you touch them, throwing out lots of little babies. Never run from an octorok for they will give chase - instead stab them a few times, using a shield to protect yourself from their missiles. Other Octoroks though to exist include river and ocean Octoroks, the latter spit bombs, the former spiked rocks.
Image Loading... Peahat
The Peahat is an odd creature that has had several different forms through the ages. It is a plant like creature with the ability to fly, and can prove to be quite a nuisance for any hero without a boomerang or bow and arrow. Also, one must beware of its more daunting cousin, the Seahat, which prefers to glide over the oceans looking for potential prey. Peahats and Seahats like to ram into their victims, rendering them immobile.
Image Loading... Poe
Poes like to hide in graves, and will appear if you touch or go near one. They are quite fat, with glowing eyes, and carry a lantern. You can tell it's them by their distinctive laugh, sort of like an evil giggle. To defeat them, just keep hitting it with your sword, they don't attack you very much, but do be wary. Once a poe has been defeated, you can often catch one in a bottle. However, if you should target one of these ghosts, they have a tendancy to disappear from sight!
Image Loading... Rat
Nasty and tiresome, these cheeky rodents like nothing more than to knock over their unsuspecting victims before raiding their money bags and making off with as many ruppees as they can carry which they will take back to their rat holes. Although some of the weaker types of rat can be bribed with bait to give up their stolen goods, other rats will not be swayed. Some even through bombs, so beware!
Image Loading... Redead
The Redead are awful creatures, often found in tombs and dungeons. The gaze of the Redead is said to paralyse its victims, as can its terrifying scream. The Redead enjoy nothing more than feasting on the flesh and brains of their unfortunate victims. However, when played, the tune known as 'Sun's song' will paralyse these unholy creatures. More often than not, there will be more than one Redead if you see one, so beware. When you kill a Redead they will usually leave behind a small magic container.
Image Loading... Skulltulla
The Skulltulla is a skull like creature with eight legs, very much like a spider. Although the front of their bodies is protected by a very tough skin, their underbellies are extremely soft and often their undoing. Skulltulla's like to lurk in the ceilings of dungeons, before spinning down atop any passers by and attack them. You may also find a very special Golden Skulltulla in hidden crevices which when killed can be traded for a large reward. Also watch out for Skullwalltulla's, a similar kind of creature which hang to the walls and slowly rotates while waiting for its next victim. Both Skulltulla's and Skullwalltulla's are very fast, so once they have chosen to attack, it is not often that they miss.
Image Loading... Snap Dragon
The Snap Dragon is supposedly the result of a mad wizard's experiment. His huge jaws will snap at anything that comes his way, and he moves by hopping about. In order to defeat him, several sword blows suffice, but be careful of his maw! A stronger species is also around - it is called a Manhandla and has four hands.
Image Loading... Stalfos
These skeletal warriors can induce a quick death upon the unwary. Simpy avoid his sword and hit him wherever possible, since they are poor at handling shields. If you come upon a Stalfo Knight, you must defeat him using bombs since he has the ability to come back to life. Stalfo Knights are easy to tell aprt from regular Stalfos - they are much bigger than their cousins.
Image Loading... Tektite
Tektites are large, armoured spiders. They have one huge eye, and sharp claws. Tektites usually attack by jumping about very quickly, which makes them a hard shot. Red Tektikes tend to be stronger than blue ones. They can be killed with a few good sword blows.
Image Loading... Vire
These are devil-like creatures, with pointed ears. They like to split into smaller monsters called Keese when you attack them. Luckily, the Keese have less attacking power than Vire.

Image Loading... Wallmaster
These creatures are a pestilence. They look like a giant hand, and will scoop you up, should they catch you, and drop you back at the entrance you started at. They hide in walls, ready and waiting to catch a victim. Also, a different variation of the Wallmaster is the Floormaster, which lurks in misty caverns waiting to snatch the ankles of any unsuspecting adventurers and drag them kicking and screaming into a different area. It is said that some Floormasters are even able to throw back unexploded bombs, so beware!
Image Loading... Wizzrobe
They are wizards who have the ability to vanish then appear again somewhere else. They attack using beams of magic. You can only attack them when they are visable, and the best way to do it is to use a reflect spell to send their magic back upon them, but you can try and hit them with a sword a few times too, if you do not pocess this magical skill.
